Calling All Singers!

If you have ever thought about joining the Brazos Valley Chorale, perhaps you have wondered what you are committing to or what is expected. Or maybe as a fan of the Chorale, you have been curious what it takes to prepare for our concerts.

Here is a brief summary. To start, the Chorale rehearses 7:30-9:30 p.m. every Monday from the last Monday in August through the first Monday in December, and then from the first Monday in January through the first Monday in May. In addition, sectionals are conducted from 7:00-7:30 p.m., with Sopranos and Altos alternating weeks with the Tenors and Basses. Final rehearsals prior to concerts are mandatory and are typically conducted the day or morning prior to those concerts. In spite of this rehearsal time, however, most singers find it valuable to study and practice at home between rehearsals using various identified resources. Members are expected to be on time for rehearsals, and to be conscientious about attending every possible rehearsal; absences must be held to a minimum.

Now, all of this may sound pretty demanding, but through it all, the Chorale members really enjoy the camaraderie, the professionalism, and ultimately the quality of performance that results from this work. They would want nothing less. The two hours of rehearsal time normally flies by, as everyone remains quite engaged and focused on what Jess Wade is trying to achieve.

So, if that hasn’t frightened you too much and you think you would like to become a member of such a professional organization, all you need do is audition. Call 979.862.7109 or email Jess Wade to schedule an appointment. This audition is very informal, non-threatening, and is conducted in private with Jess Wade. If you have any singing experience at all, your audition should be a "piece of cake." The members of the Chorale are really a friendly and supportive group of folks; come be one of us.
